Governance
The Committee for Auckland evolved from Competitive Auckland.
Competitive Auckland was a not-for-profit charitable trust formed in March 2001 by a group of business leaders concerned about the loss of business and talent from the Auckland Region. They gathered support and resources from a cross-section of Auckland business, tertiary institutions and local government. During a five month process, they looked at other international cities to find new models that would make a difference to our city - which helped them form a strategy for the development of the Auckland region as an internationally competitive business location. From that process an economic development agency for Auckland and the region was created.
The Committee for Melbourne has achieved great results for Melbourne over the last decade and is used as the model for the Committee for Auckland.
