OUR WORK

1. Fuelling our Economy: Developing a Joint Skills Plan for Auckland
The Committee for Auckland is currently leading a project with its partners Auckland Council and The Department of Labour that will define the near and long-term skills required to meet Auckland's economic growth. An essential part of this project will be ensuring that the voice of employers is considered in the many new programmes and policies being developed by Local and Central Government.

2. Improving Social Outcomes: Career Ready
'Career Ready' is a work exposure programme designed to create opportunities for students, from low decile schools, to experience a variety of professional careers and learn about the skill sets required in a range of professional sectors. The programme is designed to land key messages around subject choices and career planning for a successful future. The Career Ready programme involves Committee for Auckland corporate members that can showcase six careers or more and illustrate how these careers interweave to produce the desired output. It has a strong focus on companies that are engineering or science based where future job opportunities are forecasted.

3. Promoting Talent and Knowledge: Maori and Pacific Graduate Employment Programme
One significant initiative of the Committee's Maori Business Strategy Network is a graduate pipeline that moves talented Maori and Pacific graduates from training to employment with the help of Iwi, tertiary institutions and employers. The programme aims to increase cultural literacy and staff diversity by developing networks between Iwi/Maori businesses and Maori graduates.

This internship programme has placed young Maori and Pacific graduates with some of Auckland's top professional services firms creating a gateway for others to follow in their wake.

4. Igniting Leadership & Momentum
The Future Auckland Leaders Programme taps into the energy and insight of the city's emerging leaders, cultivating their passion for Auckland and helping channel it into city-enhancing projects. Nominated by Committee for Auckland members from within their respective organisations, participants are young individuals who possess strong leadership, as well as succession potential and most importantly, a shared belief and commitment to helping "make Auckland one of the great places to live and work".

5. Growing Iwi Participation in the Development of the National Infrastructure
Since 2009, in partnership with Te Puni Kokiri, the Committee for Auckland has brought together representatives of Iwi and Auckland business networks to explore a range of commercial collaborations under the umbrella of the Iwi Business Consortium project.
