Ngati Tuwharetoa shares knowledge with Committee members
A delegation of 7 Tuwharetoa commercial leaders was hosted in Auckland by Committee for Auckland members on Tuesday August 16, 2011.
Delegates included commercial leaders of:
- Taupo Moana Group
- Ringa Matau Limited (Subsidiary of Tauhara North 2 Trust)
- Tuwharetoa Maori Trust Board
- Ngati Tuwharetoa Fisheries Charitable Trust
- Opepe Farm Trust and
- Putahitanga o Nga Ara.
Committee for Auckland Member hosts included:
- Auckland Airport, a meeting and a tour of the new development areas,
- Auckland Waterfront CCO – a meeting and a walking tour around the new Wynyard Quarter,
- Deloitte hosted lunch and a welcome from Ngati Whatua o Orakei and Deloitte,
- Mighty River Power, a welcome from Doug Heffernan and the senior management team
- Beca – hosted a hui for Tuwharetoa to present their commercial entities to 85 representatives of corporate Auckland.
The Tuwharetoa delegates spoke about their commercial entities at the Maori Business Strategy Network hui hosted at Beca and mixed and mingled with Members afterwards. A private dinner was hosted by Sir Ron Carter at Stamford Plaza Hotel for the Tuwharetoa delegates and the Committee for Auckland member hosts. The day was extremely successful, and some excellent relationships were formed between Tuwharetoa and many corporates. There has been a request to take a reciprocal CFA delegation to Tuwharetoa later in the year.
