Iwi Business Consortium
The Committee for Auckland has brought together representatives of Iwi and Auckland business networks to explore a range of commercial collaborations under the umbrella of the Iwi Business Consortium project. This project has been developed with the ongoing support of Te Puni Kokiri (TPK).
The vision of this project is for:
- Full economic integration of local Iwi with Auckland's commercial environment
- Iwi participation in the development of the national infrastructure through a common table for discussion and decision-making
- An active programme of people development to build reputation, experience, skills and assets
To achieve this bold vision, the Committee is working on four platforms:
- Talent: a graduate pipeline that moves talented Maori from training to employment with the help of Iwi, to tertiary institutions and employers
- Leadership: improved Maori representation on Boards; Maori CEOs, senior executives, business leaders
- Involvement: A common table for discussion and decision-making
- Investment: Iwi investment in New Zealand's core infrastructure (physical and social)
